Sonder: An Anthology Film by Pacey Wells

Sonder, is a film with multiple narratives. We follow different people from all walks of life, in different situations, all with their own problems and their own pursuit of happiness. Its an evolving story as we constantly change our focus with each new character. The word, Sonder, means: The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it. So my film follows someone different in each scene, and as the story evolves, with a constant theme of sonder, we are left with no closure with some characters, left on cliff-hangers and see some characters polar opposite versions of others characters. We see people who are going through something or going to do something major, then we shift to someone else and never see that other character again, leaving us wondering what will happen, but because everyone's life is just as intricate as your own, we change our focus onto this new person as they have their own problems, their own complexity, and drive. Soon forgetting past characters, and remembering the meaning of Sonder. We see people in love, people falling out of love, murderers, foreign characters, friends, lonely people and many more. The idea of this story is to show everyone around has something going on, and is as important to you.
